A weekend built around your group — singing, and enough space around it to actually rest.
These are built to fit — a choir wanting to go deeper, a group of friends, a team that needs something other than another offsite with flip charts.
A weekend gives room for things a single session can’t hold. Songs can be learned slowly, in parts, over days rather than minutes. There’s time to sing outdoors, to walk, to swim if the weather allows, and to sit around in the evening with no agenda. We can shape the balance between singing, quiet, food and free time however suits you.

Island Song Circle Campout

11–13 September 2026 · Living Forest Oceanside Campground, Nanaimo
Two days and nights of community singing at the estuary of the Nanaimo River, organised by Sylvia Humble and led by eight songleaders from around the Island. Fifty people, waterfront campsites, and singing spots scattered in and around the campground.
My session was Sing and Play — easy songs woven together with games, movement, laughter and moments of quiet wonder outdoors. No agenda beyond following curiosity and enjoying whatever emerged.
The other songleaders were Cathy Baker and Dick Jackson of Victoria’s Gettin’ Higher Choir, who also teach on the Community Choir Leadership Training faculty; Cari Burdett of Lila Music and Nature Centre in the Quw’utsun Valley; Dave Ashwell of the Comox Community Song Circle; Michael Geselbracht of Nanaimo Forest School; Leah Hokanson of the Song Keepers Women’s Choir on Gabriola; and vocalist and percussionist April Laurie.
We’re from Germany and had just arrived in Vancouver. On our second day my daughter and I joined a Sing Together event in Burnaby and just loved it. We met wonderful, open, international people, sharing the joy of singing together without any stress or expectations.
